SPENCER – Spencer’s LuCille Tack Center for the Arts has received a $2,407 grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin.
Founded in 1987, the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin seeks, manages, and awards charitable gifts in order to enhance the quality of this area for present and future generations, ensuring that the greater Wausau area is a magnet for people who want to make an extraordinary life for themselves and their families.
Recently, the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin distributed $94,800 through the Community Arts Grant Fund, providing financial support for 25 visual and performing arts programs, including the Tack’s 2019-20 Arts Adventure Series.
For more than 20 years the Tack’s Arts Adventure Series has enhanced the education of countless school children, offering literacy-supporting, cultural, and historical programming for students from area schools, grades Pre-K to 12.
This year’s season will include dramatic interpretations of award-winning book titles, reinforce STEM (Science- Technology-Engineering-Math) curricula and encourage positive character development. The eclectic mix puts an artistic and innovative twist on learning which during the 2018-19 school year helped actively engage nearly 4500 students from seventeen area schools in 11 communities.
“The Tack’s mission is to create an environment that encourages a variety of opportunities to enlighten, enrich, and develop artistic growth for community members of all ages,” stated Tack Board President Joe Burnett. “What better way to achieve this, than by presenting high-quality, professionally performed productions that expand on classroom learning and creative opportunities for our youth? The Tack is grateful to be in a position that helps make this happen for area students.”
